Sierra Timberframers has produced timber framed and post & beam structures for over 20 years, using wood-to-wood joinery incorporating both Japanese and traditional New England methods. Creating custom timber frame homes, barns or great rooms, we were an early adopter of what is now identified as “green building methods” and materials. We have always been conservation-oriented and conscious of the energy that goes into collecting our building supplies, as well as how we design and build. We serve the Sierra Nevada foothills, from Sacramento to Truckee and Lake Tahoe, to the Bay Area and all of Northern California and Northern Nevada including Reno.
Sierra Timberframers also is a source of custom & unique wood products. We offer enhanced wood items such as trusses, beams, rails & stairs, mantels & bar tops, window & door trim packages, porches and entries, and ceiling & flooring planks.
We offer both new and recycled wood with various treatment options available such as hand hewn, sand blasted or hand grinded timbers to your preferred level of patina. There are several species of wood that are more commonly used for structural or any large timber work and there are species that are more commonly used for flooring planks. These are some of the choices that are yours to make!
Sierra Timberframers is located just north of Nevada City, California. We encourage visits early on in your projects, so specific timbers can be reserved, allowing time for ordering other wood if needed, air-drying new timbers prior to shop work, and for processing our mill work.
